How you’ll play your part

In this role, you will lead the MI reporting function with the aim of maintaining strong relationships with business partners in order to provide analytical and technical support for prioritised analytics and BI activities. The role also uses reporting self-service to generate insights to help drive decisions within their business function.

The role holder will be responsible for the MBFS UK Reporting, MI & Analytics initiatives, and will manage the central finance MI team suite of reports and reports for key regulatory projects which fall under the MI team remit. You will have accountability for managing the MI team reporting analyst, this includes leading the reporting team to produce the following deliverables:

1. Accountable for designing and deploying default, standard, structured, scheduled reporting and default user defined views. Accountable for building, maintaining and contributing to the standard reusable report library.
2. Accountable for developing and maintaining regulatory reporting.
3. Builds MBFS analytics and BI reporting capabilities while also ensuring distribution and delivery of high-quality analytics reporting solutions and BI reports.
4. Responsible for providing functional subject matter expertise for BI solutions.
5. Develops ad hoc reports, dashboards and interactive visualisations using 'Data Strategy' self-serve capabilities.
6. Analyses and interprets results for making decisions relevant to their business function.

Main Accountabilities

Reporting Team Leader:

7. Responsible for the line management of the MI team Reporting Analyst.
8. Responsible for the line management of any reporting deliverables that the MI / data apprentices produce.
9. Training & Mentoring of the MI team resources that are producing any MI reporting deliverables.

BI Solution Development:

10. Responsible for developing reports, dashboards and interactive visualisations.
11. Works with data warehouses, data integration and data modelling to support business decisions, leveraging data to gain key insights into business opportunities.
12. Responsible for ensuring the workflow components from data sourcing, data modelling, ingestion, content authoring, analysis, and insight delivery in the report library is followed
13. Performs the development of customized BI solutions as required by the business.

Technical Report Development:

14. Develops regulatory reporting requirements and works closely with Quality and Governance leads to ensure specifications are still relevant.
15. Extracts user requirements for analysis and reporting.
16. Conducts detailed data analysis using predefined data manipulation techniques in a self-service manner.
17. Scopes and frames requirements, analyses and interprets data.

Stakeholder Management:

18. Engage with and build relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure commitment and support to agreed initiatives. Work with all Business, Finance and MBFS support teams to shape structure and deliver the agreed activity.
19. Ensure that the status of the current activity is communicated effectively at the Executive level within MBFS via multiple channels and that the risks and issues are reported and escalated accordingly.
20. Manage team delivery risks and implement mitigating actions.
21. Co-ordinate and influence outcomes based on Data strategy in Data Forums.

This role requires close liaison with the other Go for Data lead roles (Quality / Governance) which together integrate with the Data Centre of Excellence / Enterprise data owner.

24. Strong understanding of the Data & Analytics discipline.
25. Comprehensive understanding of the organisation, business strategy, business processes & the importance and impact of data on the ability of the business to realise that strategy.
26. Knowledge of business rules and data standards.
27. Knowledge of business systems.
28. Basic report design skills.
29. Comprehensive understanding of the BI / Reporting programming languages (Cognos / PowerBI, Python & SQL).
30. Ability to interact with business partners through interpersonal and communication skills.
31. Understanding of BI concepts, best practices and tools.
32. Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
33. Negotiation and communication skills and experience.
