ROLE: Technical Manager – Authorising Engineer
LOCATION: UK-wide

We're looking for a Technical Manager – Authorising Engineer who will play a critical role within our Safe Systems of Work Team, ensuring compliance, safety, and technical excellence across the UK.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Conduct AE audits to HTM, JSP, and Mitie standards; upload reports and drive corrective actions.
2. Assess and recommend Authorised Persons (APs) for system coverage and maintain an up-to-date AP register.
3. Define AP responsibilities and issue Letters of Appointment (valid for up to 3 years) following competency assessments.
4. Perform annual AP audits and review operational experience and competency.
5. Report deficiencies to Senior Leadership and recommend training or development actions.
6. Maintain an AE diary and support APs in producing Safe Systems of Work.
7. Provide technical training and stay current with legislation, Codes of Practice, and industry standards.
8. Investigate dangerous occurrences and issue safety alerts where required.
9. Conduct technical inspections and produce detailed condition reports.
10. Support continuous improvement in alignment with TST strategy.
11. Travel extensively across the UK.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.
18. Recognised qualification in relevant technical disciplines.
19. Proven experience as an Authorised Person (AP); experience as an Authorising Engineer (AE) desirable.
20. Strong technical knowledge with proven health & safety expertise.
21. Demonstrable leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
22. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and data analysis.
