Are you looking for a teaching environment where your creativity in the classroom is truly celebrated?

Are you eager to collaborate with a forward-thinking team that puts student well being at the heart of learning?

Is it time to take your passion for English literature and language to a school that matches your ambition?

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to secure a full-time permanent position starting in September. Operating in a third-person capacity, the successful educator will take full ownership of planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential opportunities for Key Stage 5 depending on experience). The role demands an individual who can craft a love for reading and analytical writing, making complex texts accessible and exciting for a diverse student body. As a core subject teacher, the individual will play a pivotal role in boosting academic attainment and preparing students thoroughly for their GCSE examinations.

About the School

Situated in the heart of Bradford, this secondary school is a bustling, inclusive, and highly regarded educational institution. The school pride themselves on a warm, community-focused ethos where both staff and students are encouraged to reach their full potential. Boasting modern facilities, extensive resources for the English department, and a highly structured behaviour management system, the school provides an environment where teachers can actually focus on teaching. It is an environment that celebrates diversity, promotes mental well-being, and fosters a collaborative staff room culture where resources and ideas are shared freely.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent, recognised UK teaching qualification.
  • A current Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
  • Deep and up-to-date knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Skills

  • Excellent Communication: The ability to articulate complex literary themes clearly and engage confidently with students, staff, and parents.
  • Classroom Control: Strong, positive behaviour management strategies that foster mutual respect.
  • Creativity: The capacity to design innovative resources that breathe life into classic and contemporary texts.
  • Empathy: High emotional intelligence to understand and support the diverse emotional and academic needs of pupils.
  • Organisation: Superior time-management skills to balance lesson planning, marking, and administrative tasks.
  • Adaptability: The flexibility to pivot teaching styles depending on classroom dynamics and immediate student feedback.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lesson Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons that align with the National Curriculum guidelines.
  • Exam Preparation: Prepare Key Stage 4 students effectively for their upcoming GCSE English Language and Literature examinations.
  • Progress Tracking: Consistently assess, mark, and record student work, providing constructive feedback to guide their academic development.
  • Differentiated Learning: Adapt teaching materials to support both high-achieving students and those requiring additional educational support (SEND).
  • Classroom Management: Implement the school's behaviour policy consistently to maintain a focused, safe, and positive learning atmosphere.
  • Form Tutor Duties: Act as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and guidance to a designated cohort of students.
  • Department Collaboration: Attend departmental meetings to share best practices, design schemes of work, and moderate student assessments.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, including attending parent's evenings.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse student performance data to identify learning gaps and implement effective intervention strategies.
  • Extracurricular Support: Contribute to the wider school community by assisting with literacy initiatives, book clubs, or school events.

What We Offer:
