Senior Quantity Surveyor
Would you like to be part of Vital Energis 5-year strategy of growth? If so, due to continuing success, we are experiencing rapid and extensive growth in all business sectors, and we are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a successful background in the world of construction.
You will join our Commercial team supporting a major decarbonisation scheme at Gatwick Airport, set to last until 2032.
You will support financial management of contracts, in partnership with the Contracts Managers and/or Project Managers.
What you will be doing:
* Work in partnership with site management, commercially supporting sites as required, to develop a proactive site team and ensuring that contractual obligations are identified and administered.
* Vet contract documentation on receipt from the client to ensure compatibility with the companys tender and subsequent negotiations.
* Produce a commercial risk register for each contract, monitor risk and assist in implementation of agreed mitigation measures.
* Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant & equipment and sub‑contract packages, vet quotations commercially and negotiate price and terms with vendors, and issue resultant purchase orders.
* Prepare and submit applications for payment and/or invoices, obtain payment certificates and progress client payments in accordance with contractual provisions.
* Measure, submit and agree variations, loss & expense and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of final accounts.
* Monitor on‑site record keeping and prepare and issue notices in accordance with contractual provisions.
* Prepare and submit monthly cost‑value reconciliations and cash/spend profiles, and attend contract review meetings.>
* Authorise and code suppliers and sub‑contractors invoices and submit to finance for payment.
* Measure, certify and agree sub‑contractors interim valuations and final accounts, and prepare and issue contractual notices to sub‑contractors.
Who we are looking for:
* A senior quantity surveyor with a successful construction portfolio.
* Educated to a BSc in Quantity Surveying (or an equivalent commercially related discipline).
* Good understanding of NEC contracts.
* Member of a professional institution (e.g. MRICS).
* Knowledge and working experience in construction and M&E.
* Commercial awareness and acumen.
