Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from September 2026 This Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant role offers a full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing opportunity starting in September 2026. The Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils in their early years of formal education, helping them build confidence, independence, and core learning skills. This role is ideal for a caring and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting young learners in a structured and supportive environment. Duties as Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant: Support pupils across Key Stage 1 in lessons and daily classroom activities Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning Assist with phonics, early reading, writing, and numeracy activities Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment Support classroom routines, transitions, and organisation Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff Observe and share information on pupil progress with teaching staff Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times Ideal Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant: Experience working with children in Key Stage 1 or early years settings Understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and child development Patient, nurturing, and supportive approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Reliable and committed to a full-time, long-term role Proactive and adaptable attitude Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Why Step Teachers?
