Production test engineer

Production Test Engineer Electronics Colchester Up to 34, Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

We are recruiting an Electronics Production Test Engineer to join a well-established engineering manufacturer in Colchester.

This is a hands‑on role focused on testing electronic hardware, including PCB assemblies (PCBAs), embedded systems, and finished products within a production environment.

You will work closely with R&D, production, and quality teams to validate products, diagnose faults, and support continuous improvement.

Please note: this role involves electronic hardware testing and is not a software QA or automation testing position.


The Role

Key responsibilities include:

* Executing formal test procedures on PCBAs and electronic assemblies
* Component‑level fault finding, diagnosis, and repair
* Producing fault reports to support product improvement
* Maintaining test records in line with ISO 9001 procedures
* Creating and operating Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
* Supporting new product introduction and validation
* Collaborating with R&D, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues


What We're Looking For

* HNC / HND / ONC in Electronic or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Experience in electronic test within manufacturing or R&D
* Strong fault‑finding skills to component level
* Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and electronic test equipment
* Experience with PCBAs and electronic assemblies
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 or IPC standards


Desirable:

* RF or microwave testing experience
* Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
