As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades and support operatives. Hays is seeking to recruit a General Building Operative for HMP Holme House. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the prison service and can often lead to permanent opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide support to the prison maintenance team across a range of tasks, including reactive repairs and damage restoration.
2. Carry out basic joinery work as required.
3. Perform minor plumbing tasks, such as unblocking toilets.
4. Undertake simple electrical duties, including replacing light bulbs.
5. Conduct routine fire alarm testing to ensurepliance and safety.
6. Assist with waste management and disposal activities.
7. Support ground maintenance tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
8. Carry out general labouring duties as needed.
9. Assist with tiling and other minor repair projects.
What you'll need to succeed
10. Experience of painting and tiling is desirable.
11. You must be able to pass a full prison security clearance and enhanced DBS (if required).
(Hays and the MOJ are responsible for organising all security clearances and DBS’)
12. You must hold a valid passport or Full Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence at your current address.
13. You must have proof of National Insurance AND proof of address dated in the past 3 months.
14. All applicants must be able to provide details of at least 2 satisfactory employment references.
What you'll get in return
You will be paid weekly. You will receive all the relevant training for this role, and it is a temporary position with the possibility to go permanent (subject to performance).
