Purpose of the Job The Quality Assurance Apprentice will be trained to support a wide range of projects, within a small Quality team who are focused on continuous improvement of Oxitec’s processes and products. It will be essential to bring good communication and writing skills to this role. Once trained, you will be responsible for ensuring the Quality Management System and its inputs are of the quality required to meet ISO 9001 standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). It will be essential to gain a strong understanding of how to create/review comprehensive standard operating procedures and work instructions for all parts of the business and to ensure compliance with these documents by supporting the QA Manager with internal audits, non-conformance reports, and other relevant processes under Quality remit. This role includes third-party training towards the Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship as well as on-the-job training. The external training includes the topics of Quality Planning (planning a delivery system for reliable outputs, such as implementing Quality Management Plans), Quality Assurance (providing confidence to stakeholders that Quality standards are maintained, such as conducting audits), Quality Control (verifying a product or service is meeting agreed specifications, such as carrying out inspections) and Continuous Improvement (preventing recurrence of poor quality through analysis and addressing the root cause of poor quality, such as conducting investigations). The on-the-job training will support this and put it into practice. Responsibilities Complete the Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship training program supported by Oxitec, which is provided by CSR Scientific Training. Under the guidance of the QA Manager: - Work within a small team tasked to ensure good QA practices in the laboratories meet internal and regulatory specifications. Assist the QA Manager with QA inspections and audits, both internally and externally. In collaboration with the subject matter experts, ensure that processes and written instructions are clear and concise. Ensure data, processes and activities carried out in the laboratories are diligently recorded and documented within the relevant records. Prepare and maintain documents for archiving. After completion of training, approval of minor non-conformances, change controls, and corrective and preventive action plans to the timelines given within the procedures. Review/write new policies, SOPs, and written instructions. Maintain the QA email inbox, answering / directing queries to the correct expert. Take part in root cause analysis. Take part in process improvement projects. Commitment to excellent organisation and task prioritisation to ensure timely completion of apprenticeship training and role responsibilities Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements *(E) Essential Maths and English GCSE at grade C/4 or above. (E) Fluent in spoken and written English. (E) Previous experience of working in Quality Assurance. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop relationships at all levels of the business. (E) Demonstrate ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders. Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to deliver findings clearly. (E) Some technical writing experience preferred - attention to detail with the ability to accurately record data and prepare concise and clear procedures. (E) Excellent organisational, timekeeping and responsiveness to QA matters and queries. (E) Excellent attention to detail. (E) Demonstrate flexibility with the ability to adapt to changing situations. Ability to work independently and as a strong team player. [E] Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
