Overview
The Innovation Delivery Group (IDG) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide leadership for projects within the IDG portfolio, work closely with key stakeholders and direct the project team, and be accountable for project performance throughout its lifecycle to achieve high-quality outcomes.
Base location can be any hub nationally with occasional co-location in Hub or delivery partner offices.
Responsibilities
* Project leadership, including oversight and task management of the project team which may include project managers, project support officers, technical specialists, design consultants and contractors. Mentor and coach team members, adjusting involvement to suit team strength.
* Direct and manage projects within the IDG portfolio and ensure delivery aligns with Environment Agency objectives and risk management standards.
Experience/Skills Required
Essential:
* Significant experience of leading complex projects or programmes, ideally within engineering, construction, asset management and/or flood & coastal risk management.
* Formal training in project management with extensive experience applying tools, techniques and processes across a project lifecycle.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract management and procurement.
* Extensive experience in project financial management and forecasting.
* Experience in managing and influencing senior stakeholders and building effective engagement plans.
* Strong report writing with experience in producing effective business cases.
* Technical knowledge and leadership in risk management and health & safety compliance.
Desirable:
* Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM or APMP).
* Training and experience with NEC contracts.
* Experience preparing Scope of Services for appraisal and construction contract awards.
* Project management qualifications: Prince2 Practitioner or APM PMQ.
