Child Care Solicitor - Plymouth
Long standing Plymouth firm with an outstanding reputation are expanding and looking for an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their committed and compassionate team in Plymouth. If you're experienced in public law children matters and want to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable families then we would love to hear from you.
The Family Care team is dedicated to supporting parents, grandparents, and wider relatives when social services get involved. Guiding clients through incredibly challenging times, offering calm legal advice, clear direction, and strong, sensitive representation from start to finish.
The successful candidate can expect to advise and act on:
* Care proceedings involving parents and children
* Special Guardianship Orders within public law matters
* Pre-proceedings and PLO meetings
* Representation at all stages of court hearings
The Role
You'll be a confident solicitor with hands-on experience in public law children cases. You'll run your own caseload, represent clients in court, and advise on everything from early-stage concerns to complex Special Guardianship applications.
You'll be working closely with vulnerable people in emotionally charged circumstances so clarity, compassion, and an ability to break down legal complexity are key. Your calm under pressure and ability to build trust will go a long way.
Requirements
* Experience in public law children proceedings
* Confidence managing cases independently and appearing in court
* Excellent communication skills - clear, grounded, and empathetic
* A team player with a sincere desire to help families through difficult times
* Familiarity with Legal Aid and the Law Society Children's Panel (or the drive to work towards membership)
