About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a water infrastructure project in Portsmouth, focusing on pipe installation and associated civil works. The successful candidate will have a strong background in setting out for drainage, pipelines, or clean/wastewater networks.
This is a freelance contract, outside IR35, suitable for engineers operating via CIS or Ltd company.
Key Responsibilities

Setting out and surveying for pipe runs, manholes, and associated infrastructure.

Providing technical support and ensuring works are completed to design specifications.
*
Maintaining accurate records, as-builts, and QA documentation.
*
Liaising with site management, subcontractors, and the client to ensure works progress efficiently.
*
Checking levels, alignments, and gradients for pipe installation.
*
Supporting site safety and ensuring works are carried out in line with RAMS.
Requirements
*
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Site/Setting Out Engineer on water or civil projects.
*
Competent with Leica / Trimble total stations and AutoCAD.
*
Experience with deep drainage or pipeline installation is essential.
*
CSCS card required; SSSTS or SMSTS advantageous.
*
Good understanding of drawings, specifications, and QA processes.
*
Must be able to work independently and manage own workload.

Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)

Rate: £270 – £340 per day (DOE)
*
Engagement: Outside IR35 (CIS or Ltd)
