Responsibilities A building design engineer is required to create, analyse, and optimise structural, mechanical, and electrical systems for new building construction projects, while ensuring safety, compliance with codes, and functionality from concept to completion. The use of CAD software is essential to develop detailed plans, and site inspections is required, along with managing contractors, and managing project teams and budgets. Improve and promote safety across the site, Develop detailed blueprints, structural models, and systems designs using CAD and 3D modelling tools on own and with external engineers, With the help of contract designers analyse, calculate, and evaluate structural integrity, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems, Ensure all designs and construction meet legal, environmental, and safety regulations (e.g., building codes), Coordinate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to manage the project lifecycle, from proposal to final inspection, Inspect building areas to verify compliance with plans, troubleshoot issues, and recommend repairs for structural or system failures, Manage external contractors, Support other engineering personnel to achieve departmental goals, Responsible for helping to identify own personal training and development needs, and Such other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require. Qualifications Essential Degree qualified in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering At least 5 years working in a similar role Proficient with CAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Good communication skills both written and verbal. Awareness of Health & Safety Strong knowledge of engineering science, mathematics, structural mechanics, and building systems Ability to analyze complex data for structural, mechanical, or electrical performance. Desirable Enthusiastic, proactive and capable of making decisions and working in a self-directed capacity. Flexible and open attitude to change. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
