MEDICAL RETINA FELLOWSHIP
Applications areinvited for the MR fellowships in Ophthalmology based at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, from June for months in the first instance.
Candidates shouldbe post CCT or equivalentand wish to specialise in MEDICAL RETINA.
This post is suitable for doctors who have completed their training but seek experience in medical retina prior to obtaining a consultant appointment. It is not an approved training post. Main duties of the job
Clinical
The postholder’s duties will be primarily at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but their presence may from time to time be required in other parts of the Trust, such as the Horton Hospital in Banbury. Besides clinical sessions, the typical timetable will include admin session. The fellowship includes sub-specialty training in inherited retinal diseases uveitis, and other rare retinal diseases. Fellows may have access to cataract surgery on extra-curricular lists depending on experience and availability. The fellows are involved in the training of nurse injectors to increasingly transfer the injection service to a nurse-led clinic. Regular weekly teaching sessions include retinal imaging, genetics and uveitis. The Oxford Eye Hospital is a tertiary referral centre for complex retinal pathology. The unit has an international reputation in the field of genetics, gene therapy, and retinal phenotyping and fellows will have the opportunity to develop and broaden specialist and research interests in these fields.
