Contract type: Fixed term until 31/08/2027
Location: Lyde Green Access Centre, BS16 7LH
As a Specialist Class Teacher your role will be to provide high quality teaching that will not only enable students to progress academically, but also socially and emotionally. You will need to be creative and engaging, and have a proven track record of adapting quickly. You’ll plan and deliver lessons that support our students to achieve their full potential, applying your understanding of ASC. You’ll supervise and provide support and guidance to the Specialist Teaching Assistants within the Access Centre and support them with their professional development. You will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, particularly those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. You’ll continuously monitor the health, well-being and personal care of our students, ensuring that pastoral/clinical/ SEND support teams and any other relevant professionals are informed of any concerns.
You are someone who thrives in a dynamic SEND environment and brings a deeply pupil-centred approach to their practice.
If you are ready to act as a positive role model, champion student safety and welfare and design a stimulating classroom tailored to the sensory and academic needs of our pupils, we would love to hear from you!
The Access Centre based at Lyde Green Primary School is a specialist facility dedicated to students who have a primary diagnosis of ASC along with complex learning needs. The Access Centre will provide bespoke and expert provision to enable them to make progress. There are no expectations for our pupils to have any inclusion with the main school although we have this luxury should we feel it appropriate for individuals.
Our dedicated team of staff model themselves as lifelong learners and put our children’s best interests at the heart of everything they do and they work hard to ensure children remain challenged, motivated and engaged with their learning throughout their time with us.
We value kindness, resilience and tolerance and expect our children and staff to demonstrate these values daily. We also believe in the importance of courage when trying new things, collaboration and teamwork to achieve things together and the importance of always being respectful to one another.
