Durham County Council is looking for a Senior Practitioner to join our Children in Care Team 3—supporting children aged 0–16 who are cared for by the local authority. This is your opportunity to work in a team that values reflective practice, professional development, and putting children at the centre of everything we do.
Work with children in care aged 0–16, building meaningful relationships to support their stability and wellbeing.
Carry a caseload of approximately 25 children, most of whom are based within the Durham and North East region.
Attend the office in Seaham at least twice a week for duty cover, team meetings, and Stop the Clock development days.
✅ Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Substantial experience in children’s social care, ideally within a children in care or looked-after children team.
In-depth knowledge of Children in Care legislation, procedures, and policies .
Strong communication, supervision, and assessment skills, with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children.
