ROLE OVERVIEW:
As the Head of Audio for ABBA Voyage you will lead the audio department in one of the most technically advanced and high-profile live productions in the world, contributing to keeping our concert always sounding as outstanding as possible. You will combine hands-on expertise in live audio and department-wide leadership responsibilities, ensuring flawless execution of audio. Working alongside the other departments, you will manage a team of skilled technicians, maintain the highest creative and technical standards and ensure great communication in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Each member of our audio team has a bias – Systems, FOH or Monitors, complementing each other’s skillsets and operating each position in rotation to ensure resilience.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead and manage the on-site audio team, ensuring smooth and consistent delivery of all audio elements.
* Be the key accountable person on site for audio systems resilience.
* Work in collaboration with all other internal show departments.
* Actively engage with maintaining outstanding production audio show quality for our audiences, in collaboration with our audio design team, creative producers, Technical Director and Resident Artistic Director.
* Schedule, coordinate and line manage audio staff in collaboration with other Heads of Department; attend scheduling and production meetings.
* Oversee the work of the FOH engineer, monitor tech, performers, stage management, and other production crew to meet all audio requirements.
* Maintain clear, organised documentation of console, system and network settings and any changes to programming or operating procedures.
* Ensure spare equipment stock is maintained and replenished.
* Foster a collaborative team culture with a focus on knowledge-sharing and professional development.
* In rotation, cover any of the audio show plots as needed.
* Troubleshoot and resolve audio issues efficiently during rehearsals and live shows.
* Support the continuous improvement of audio workflows and standards, including developing stronger contingencies to constantly improve show operating resilience.
* Work in collaboration with all internal departments.
* Any other duties as reasonably expected of a Head of Audio for a world-class entertainment production.
Please note, this role will involve working public holidays, evenings and weekends. On occasion, this role may be required to work at other locations including but not limited to our central London offices and other production sites.
ABOUT YOU:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in concert touring, live events or theatre, with at least 1 year in a team leadership or Head of Department role.
* Solid working knowledge and experience working in live monitoring, FOH or systems tech roles
* Experience with large-scale, multidisciplinary live productions.
* Excellent technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead under pressure.
* Strong communication, team management, and organisational skills.
* Calm, detail-oriented, and adaptable in fast-moving performance environments
