Offer description

Are you a passionate community outreach professional with a strong commitment to peacebuilding and reconciliation? Are you experienced in engaging marginalised groups, building grassroots relationships, and driving participation in transformative projects? If so, this could be the ideal role for you. The Project: We are recruiting a Programme Outreach Co-ordinator for the NextGen4Peace project, a major four year PEACEPLUS-funded initiative led by The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation in partnership with Mediation Northern Ireland and several associate partners. The project empowers the next generation of peacebuilders by delivering conflict resolution, mediation, and dialogue training to marginalised communities across Northern Ireland's six counties and the six border counties of the Republic of Ireland. It targets 2,240 participants, establishes anchor sites for training and mediation services (in Belfast, Derry, Dungannon, Garvagh, and Monaghan), nurtures 30 mediators/facilitators, and supports school-based initiatives for positive community relations. Your Duties: Lead outreach, recruitment, and community relationship-building to achieve participation targets of 2,240 over four years, focusing on marginalised groups. Manage and strengthen relationships with Associate Partners (including Ulster University Magee Campus, Hares Corner Co-operative, New Beginnings, Education Authority NI, Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education, and Educate Together) and map/establish ties with community organisations, groups, government bodies, and grassroots networks across NI and border counties. Develop, implement, and monitor an ongoing Outreach, Engagement, and Recruitment Strategy to maximise participation from communities in anchor locations. Collaborate with Mediation Northern Ireland to establish and embed community-based mediation services at anchor sites. Act as liaison between project partners, participants, and stakeholders; co-design outreach approaches and support training delivery. Serve as the first point of contact for trainees, addressing queries/concerns, removing participation barriers, fostering a positive learning environment, managing registrations/attendance via online tools, monitoring engagement, and guiding further development opportunities. Contribute to the project's communications plan, represent the initiative externally, advocate for PEACEPLUS objectives, and promote visibility/awareness. Support co-design of peacebuilding/mediation training using participant feedback; assist in project reporting, evaluations, and compliance (including data collection, GDPR adherence, and risk identification). Identify challenges and risks, proposing timely solutions to the project team. Adhere to procurement process and expenditure eligibility rules to ensure compliance. Engage fully with monitoring and evaluation frameworks, ensuring accurate demographic data, accessible online tools, and contributions to reports/presentations for stakeholders, the Glencree Board, and partners. Your Profile: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Peace Education, Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies, Social Studies, Community Development, or a related discipline. At least five years' experience in community development, outreach, or engagement roles. Experience in peacebuilding, community relations, mediation, or post-conflict initiatives, ideally in Northern Ireland and/or cross-border contexts. Demonstrable track record of building and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders. Experience of working at grass roots on development projects with disadvantaged and marginalised groups/individuals is required. Experience working in conflict-affected, divisive communities or politically sensitive environments in the programme area is desirable. Strong personal attributes: commitment to peace, stability, and social cohesion; cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity; flexibility/adaptability; high ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive matters. Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage communities, coordinate events/training, and foster inclusive participation. Other: Eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland required. Full, clean driving licence and access to own transport (essential, with travel across NI, border counties, and Glencree head office). Your Benefits: €51,500 per annum. Travel reimbursed in line with RoI Civil Service mileage rates. Additional Information: Full time, four year fixed term contract. Five days a week. Primarily office-based in Belfast City Centre (two days), with travel across Northern Ireland counties, border counties in the Republic of Ireland, and Glencree Centre in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.
