THE OPPORTUNITY This is a newly created senior leadership role offering the opportunity to shape and grow Stantec UK’s Defence portfolio across the UK, working in close partnership with key international leadership. As our Defence Director, you will define and lead the strategic direction of our Defence sector offering, building on Stantec’s existing capability and strengthening our position as a trusted partner to the UK Ministry of Defence and its wider delivery ecosystem. You will play a pivotal role in developing long-term client relationships, identifying and shaping opportunities, and leading the integration of multidisciplinary expertise to deliver secure, resilient and sustainable infrastructure solutions that support Defence capability and estate transformation. ABOUT THE ROLE You will act as a senior client-facing leader within the Defence sector, leveraging and expanding Stantec’s existing relationships across the MOD, DIO, DE&S, Front Line Commands and key prime contractors. You will be responsible for driving growth and influence across the sector, including: • Leading strategic engagement with Defence clients and stakeholders, building trusted relationships at senior levels • Utilising and strengthening existing networks to identify, shape and secure new business opportunities • Leading major bids, frameworks and strategic pursuits across Defence programmes • Providing oversight across complex, multi-disciplinary programmes spanning infrastructure, estate modernisation, water resilience, energy security and secure facilities • Developing and embedding collaborative delivery models with clients, partners and supply chain organisations • Driving commercial performance, ensuring robust win strategies, value creation and sustainable margins • Supporting the growth of Defence capability within Stantec through mentoring, leadership and development of high-performing teams YOUR IMPACT This role is central to growing and shaping Stantec UK’s Defence sector. You’ll play a pivotal role in growing our Defence capability, building on strong foundations to expand our presence and strengthen our position across the sector—success driven by your ability to identify, influence, and secure UK Defence infrastructure, estate and capability programmes. You’ll shape how Stantec wins work in this space, while helping to deepen collaboration across industry to improve delivery and drive innovation across the Defence sector. ABOUT YOU You have a deep understanding of UK Defence infrastructure, estate and capability programmes, developed through experience of working with or in complex, multi-disciplinary engineering or consultancy environments. You may currently be working within the MOD or a Defence delivery organisation, supporting or leading work across estate transformation, capability development, infrastructure delivery, or related programmes. You bring proven leadership capability across integrated teams delivering major, secure programmes and are confident operating in complex stakeholder environments. You are credible with senior MOD and industry stakeholders, able to build trusted relationships and influence at a strategic level.
