Role
The role of Attendance Manager / Education Welfare Officer is to lead two attendance officers and an attendance assistant to engage students and their parents/carers where poor attendance is identified as a barrier to learning. The role is supported by the Outwood central attendance team to help families understand and value a top-class education.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the attendance team to improve student attendance and engagement.
* Work with pupils, families, and external agencies to remove barriers to regular attendance.
* Collaborate with the Vice Principal of Deep Support and academy colleagues to integrate attendance improvement within wider safeguarding and pastoral care initiatives.
* Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff to promote the value of sustained attendance.
* Contribute to broader strategies to maximise educational opportunities for all students.
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience of working with children and families and with other agencies is essential, preferably within an education welfare setting.
* Highly self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
