Paralegal – Agricultural & Rural Property (Cheltenham-based)
An established law firm with a strong presence in rural and agricultural matters is seeking an organised and proactive Paralegal to join their Cheltenham office. This role offers a great opportunity to support a busy team working on complex rural land transactions, with a focus on administrative and procedural tasks to enable fee earners to concentrate on high-value work.
The successful candidate will provide essential support on matters such as sales, purchases, leases, easements, options, and other legal processes related to agricultural and estate land. Responsibilities will centre around deeds management, Land Registry and Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) applications, and general file and document handling.
While previous legal or property-related experience is desirable, full training will be provided. A genuine interest in the countryside and rural property is highly beneficial.
This is a predominantly office-based role, with potential for development and progression over time for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage deeds and related documentation
* Assist with SDLT forms and payment processing
* Handle Land Registry submissions and respond to queries
* General administrative duties including document scanning, correspondence, and filing
* File management and compliance support (opening, closing, and maintenance)
* Diary management, meeting coordination, and handling phone enquiries
* Conduct legal searches and assemble supporting documentation
* Data entry, article drafting, and information analysis
* Organise case files and support client relationship management
* Attend internal/external meetings and take minutes when required
* Occasionally travel to other offices (expenses covered)
Candidate Profile:
* Strong literacy and numeracy
* Competent IT skills (comparable to Level 2 of standard competency frameworks)
* Proven customer service experience in a professional setting
* Excellent attention to detail and a methodical working style
* Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
* Prior experience in a similar administrative or paralegal role preferred
* Willingness to learn and contribute both independently and as part of a team
