East Hampshire District Council has a proactive and supportive Safety and Emergency Planning team, working within the Property and Facilities team. Information about the role In this role, you will be assisting the Safety and Emergency Planning Officer, delivering a range of practical and administrative tasks which are key to the smooth running of this service. Along with supporting Services, across the Council, to achieve excellent Health and Safety practices, tasks will include supporting the collation of risk assessments, assisting with gathering information for accident investigation and so much more. We will help you to learn more about health and safety, emergency planning and business continuity and achieve relevant qualifications in these areas, creating a career pathway in this area of work. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Emergency Planning colleagues across Hampshire, gaining experience in planning and preparation activity under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. Along with a keen interest in health and safety matters, you will be highly organised, self motivated with a keen eye for detail. Working well in a team environment is essential, together with the ability to work under pressure at times. The work of this function is critical in keeping staff safe within our own properties whilst at work, as well as playing a supporting role in times of emergencies where there is a risk to the welfare of people in the community within the District. This role will require you to work out on site, attend meetings outside of the District and work within the office at least 2 to 3 days each week or at home and be able to respond to emergency situations either on site or the office, at all hours of the day and night as part of a rota. Starting salary will be dependent upon relevant skills and experience.
