We’re working with a respected residential developer who are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical function on large-scale housing projects. This is a site-based role with only occasional office attendance (no more than once a week), offering the chance to take real ownership of developments from feasibility through to completion.
The Role
You’ll oversee all technical aspects of residential schemes, from land acquisition and planning through to build and handover. Managing both in-house teams and external consultants, you’ll ensure designs are compliant, practical and cost-effective. The role also includes discharging planning conditions, managing statutory approvals, and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, CDM and warranty providers.
Responsibilities
* Oversee design coordination, working drawings and Building Regulation approvals
* Deliver value engineering, innovation and cost efficiency across projects
* Manage consultant procurement and oversee external consultants and contractors
* Ensure timely discharge of planning conditions, s106 obligations and statutory approvals
* Support sales and marketing with accurate technical information
* Manage delivery of O&M manuals, Golden Thread information and smooth project handovers
* Provide proactive technical support, resolving issues quickly and effectively
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Technical Manager, or a Senior Technical Coordinator ready to step up
* Strong knowledge of residential design, planning, engineering and construction
* Experience of complex or high-risk schemes desirable
* HNC or degree in design/construction preferred
* Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and AutoCAD/Revit
* Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills
