An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Parking and Enforcement Team for an Enforcement Officer. You will have the opportunity to work across the Borough investigating and enforcing a range of laws and Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO’s). You will also be responsible for patrolling Council car parks within the Borough, issuing penalty charge notices and assisting our customers with parking matters. You will be expected to respond and take action to calls and complaints relating to environmental issues, investigate and undertake interviews where required in accordance to the Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) Act and, act as a witness in Court for matters such as littering and fly-tipping. As an Enforcement Officer, you’ll manage your own workload and priorities and work on your own initiative without close supervision. About You It is important that the right person has a helpful, polite and non-judgemental approach to dealing with customers and, as you will be representing the Council, you will be expected to act in a professional manner at all times. You should have a steady and methodical working style with the ability to balance ever changing and conflicting priorities. Good ICT skills are important and our ideal person would be a good team player with the flexibility, not only to take on varying duties but also to be able to work at both Fareham and Gosport offices if required. Ultimately you must have a sense of pride and the commitment to do a good job. You will need a full clean driving licence to safely drive the Council vehicles along with the flexibility to work a shift pattern with hours between 07.30 and 18.30 including weekends and bank holidays. The successful candidate will be required to apply for a Standard Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau) at the cost of the Council. About Us It is our people who innovate, develop relationships with our customers and partners, deliver our services and find new ways to improve efficiency and productivity. At Fareham, we aim to attract, develop and retain the very best people to carry out the work required. In return, you would be joining a well managed Council. We offer a great pension scheme, authorised parking, flexible working and a car lease scheme to name a few of the benefits of working for us. We take pride in receiving feedback from others who say we are a friendly and professional organisation.
