The Role
As an Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting the finance function while taking ownership of credit control activities. This is a varied, hands‑on position where you'll help maintain strong cash flow and build positive customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing customer accounts and monitoring overdue invoices
* Chasing payments and resolving billing queries professionally
* Allocating payments and reconciling sales ledgers
* Carrying out credit checks and setting credit limits
* Processing sales, purchase and self-billing invoices
* Completing daily bank reconciliations
* Supporting month‑end processes and aged debtor reporting
* Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with admin
* Escalating complex accounts when needed
About You
* 2-3 years' experience in a finance role (credit control essential)
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Confident communicator with a professional phone manner
* Good Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero)
* Solid understanding of VAT, reconciliations and accounting basics
* Proactive, reliable and able to meet deadlines
