EC&I Engineer

Salary £45,000 + Bonuses + Overtime + Callout
We are currently recruiting for an experienced EC&I Technician on behalf of a valued client operating within a process or industrial environment. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems across site.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical and instrumentation systems
* Install, commission, and calibrate a range of instruments, including pressure, temperature, level, and flow devices
* Diagnose and resolve faults within PLC, SCADA, and other control/automation systems
* Support maintenance of electrical assets such as motors, switchgear, and distribution panels
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation (e.g. wiring and loop diagrams)
* Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements
* Collaborate with engineers and operations teams to resolve issues and improve system performance
* Assist with shutdowns, upgrades, and installation projects
* Keep detailed maintenance, calibration, and testing records
* Respond to breakdowns and support out-of-hours or on-call requirements where necessary
Qualifications & Knowledge
* NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or Control Systems (or equivalent)
* Valid electrical certification (e.g. 17th/18th Edition)
* Working knowledge of PLCs and control systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley), SCADA, and field instrumentation
* Understanding of hazardous area environments (ATEX) is advantageous
* Strong awareness of safe systems of work, including Permit to Work procedures
Skills & Competencies
* Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic capability
* Proficient in the use of electrical and instrumentation test equipment
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team
* Able to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Experience Required
* Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar EC&I Technician role
* Background in industries such as power generation, oil & gas, water treatment, or other heavy/process industries preferred
* Proven ability to interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings and schematics
Additional Information
* Role may involve working at height, in confined spaces, or hazardous environments
* Shift work, overtime, and on-call duties may be required
* Strict adherence to PPE and health & safety standards is essential
