Mercer is seeking a Senior Pensions Actuarial Consultant to join our multi-disciplinary team, providing clients with leading advice across funding, investment, risk transfer, and covenant.

As a Pensions Actuarial Consultant, you will work in a team to develop and deliver tailored advice and solutions to clients (trustees and corporates), primarily focusing on DB pension schemes navigating towards their long-term goals.

Responsibilities:
* Lead the preparation and delivery of both day-to-day and strategic advice, focusing on tailored solutions for clients’ needs.
* Lead client meetings and presentations.
* Provide informed opinions on current topics based on client circumstances, customizing advice as needed.
* Utilize strong technical actuarial skills to consult with clients and communicate effectively.
* Act as final technical reviewer for actuarial calculations.
* Define strategy, direction, and resourcing for client work.
* Supervise, appraise, and mentor colleagues or provide informal feedback.
* Serve as the day-to-day contact for clients, ensuring problem resolution.
* Participate in new business development activities.
* Negotiate fees and monitor fee budgets.
* Guide and peer review colleagues’ work.
Requirements:
* Fully qualified Actuary or nearing qualification.
* Awareness of current pension issues and their impact on clients, with the ability to tailor responses.
* Excellent communication, analytical, numerical, and critical thinking skills, with a good understanding of pension actuarial approaches.
* Project management skills, including delegating work to juniors.
* Strong understanding of UK pension schemes.
* Willingness to learn and adapt.
* Proven relationship-building skills with colleagues and clients.
* Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Preferred:
* Extensive experience working with trustees and/or corporates on DB pensions within an actuarial consultancy.
* Business acumen, adaptability, and client-facing enthusiasm, supported by technical expertise.
