Role Overview

A Vacancy at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service (SHYPS) is seeking two enthusiastic Associate Practitioners to work in our busy, friendly Cellular Pathology laboratory. These positions are temporary fixed term/secondment contracts for up to 12 months. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of scientific procedures and result interpretation on biological samples that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and the investigation of other pathological processes. We are looking for individuals with a good knowledge of Cellular Pathology. If you wish to apply for this as a secondment opportunity, please seek permission from your line manager before applying. Applicants must be able to commit to and demonstrate the Trust Values and Behaviours. The core hours are Monday to Friday 08:30am until 5:00pm. Please note: This post may become Permanent at end of the Fixed Term/Secondment. We are looking for individuals who are hard‑working, innovative and work well as part of a team.


Responsibilities

* Work in a consultant‑led team being responsible for performing a wide range of scientific procedures.
* Member of a team of laboratory staff that deliver a medical laboratory service to achieve efficient and effective patient care and resource management within the Trust; maintain at all times the required high standards and quality.
* Use individual judgment to make decisions that will have an impact on the end product to facilitate the provision of accurate and timely reports within available resources.
* Support and advise less experienced staff such as trainees, students and Medical Laboratory Assistants.

* Good knowledge of Cellular Pathology.
