Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Substantive On-Call Watch Manager position based at Southam for the On-Call Night Duty System. The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic for the On-Call team, a strong team player, culturally aware with excellent communication skills and can work in a dynamic environment. Please consult and inform your line manager in advance of applying for this position.
Eligibility and Pre-requisites
* Wholetime &/ On-Call Crew Managers who meet the Pre-requisite requirements criteria below & can maintain a WFRS On-Call Nights Watch Manager Contract.
* Substantive within their current role, one role below the position being applied for.
* Competent against the full role map within their current role and in maintenance for all elements of NOS.
* In receipt of the requisite IFE examination or internal gateway examination.
* In receipt of the relevant Incident Command Level 1 assessment.
* Must not have a live disciplinary sanction placed against them from a formal disciplinary process.
* IFE Requirements: Watch Manager - IFE Level 3 Fire Service Operations and Incident Command.
* Candidates who require the \"Internal Gateway Examination\" must achieve a \"Pass\" prior to Stage 3 of the process.
Application and Assessment
* The application will be made up of 5 separate areas: Personal Impact, Outstanding Leadership, Service Delivery, Organisational Effectiveness, Core Code of Ethics.
* The application form will be anonymised electronically and collated by the operational pathway delivery team.
* Applications will be reviewed by a panel consisting of at least 1 WFRS operational and 1 WFRS non-operational colleague and one WCC/Independent colleague. If the individual does not meet the required standard at this stage, they will be given comprehensive feedback. Successful candidates will be invited to Stage 3.
Stage 3: Performance and Behaviours Confirmation
* The confirmation panel will consist of at least 1 WFRS operational and 1 WFRS non-operational colleague and 1 WCC/Independent colleague. One panel member must have completed WCC recruitment and selection course. Operational panel members should be a minimum of Station Manager for Supervisory Manager Level pathways in line with National Occupational Standard EFSM13.
* Candidates will be asked questions sourced from the NFCC interview question database linked to the four NFCC Leadership Framework quadrants: Personal Impact, Outstanding Leadership, Service Delivery, Organisational Effectiveness.
* Two questions will be issued to candidates in advance; two will be asked during the confirmation assessment. Questions will be tailored to the role and may vary but will be from the same quadrant.
* Questions will be drawn from the NFCC interview question bank and candidates will be scored against the recognised WCC scoring Matrix. Feedback will be given to unsuccessful candidates to prepare for future promotion processes. Unsuccessful candidates will be required to return for Stage 1 performance and behavioural application when applying at future promotion processes.
Language and Compliance
The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
