We are looking to appoint a Clinical Research Officer within our team, to provide flexible support to increase the number of patients participating in clinical trials in Hywel Dda University Health Board.
The post will contribute to the recruitment, education, and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
The post will assess and carry out clinical procedures for patients/participants and will be considered part of the clinical team during the participants’ involvement with the study.
Initially, work with supervision with the aim of working autonomously to assist in the management of clinical trial patients.
Assist in identifying suitable patients for entry into clinical trials by screening patient medical records, attending clinics, and relevant meetings.
Attend Multi-disciplinary Team meetings.
Use relevant clinical knowledge to identify patients suitable for clinical research using inclusion and exclusion criteria and utilising NHS records, visiting wards, and outpatient clinics.
Undertake research activities for which you have been trained and assessed as competent in line with the research competencies framework (e.g., receiving informed consent).
Carry out physical assessments, take blood/urine samples, and process according to protocol.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of treatment options, side effects, and disease processes to support patients in making informed treatment choices.
Ensure that trial-specific investigations are undertaken as required by the trial protocol and obtain results to establish eligibility and safety to enter the trial.
Safely administer trial-related treatments and drugs within the context of a clinical trial.
Hywel Dda University Health Board provides NHS healthcare services across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties, with a wide network including hospitals, community facilities, and specialist services.
Assess and manage adverse reactions occurring during treatments, seeking advice from specialists as appropriate.
