The Role

We have a unique and exciting opportunity available to join the team as our Event Safety & Security Coordinator. This role will place you at the heart of the action, working alongside experts to deliver a global event that sets the new standard for major sporting celebrations. You’ll gain hands-on experience and contribute directly to the safe, smooth, and successful delivery of the Games.

We’re looking for an organised, proactive and detail-oriented individual to support the planning and coordination of safety and security operations across Games venues. Working closely with the Head of Event Safety & Security, internal teams, and external partners, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Glasgow 2026 is delivered to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

This is an opportunity to be at the heart of a world-class event, working with passionate professionals and visionary leaders who are committed to showcasing Scotland on the international stage as well as delivering excellence for athletes and local communities through your blend of creativity, precision and innovation to deliver a digital experience worthy of the Games.

Job Summary:

As Event Safety & Security Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that venue-specific safety and security plans are developed, documented, and delivered to the highest standard. You will coordinate critical documentation and manage version control processes so that accurate and timely information is always available to operational teams. Acting as a central point of liaison between the Head of Event Safety & Security, Event Operations, and external partners, you will help ensure that plans and procedures are fully aligned across the Games.

The role will also involve assisting with security-related site visits, inspections and audits, as well as leading administrative processes for the Safety & Security team, such as cross-functional coordination and meeting organisation. You will contribute to the development of briefings, training materials and operational handbooks, while also supporting incident reporting and ensuring that follow-up actions are captured and completed.

At Games time, you may play an active part in the control room or venue-based teams, supporting real-time safety coordination and response. Importantly, you will also help promote a positive safety culture across the organisation and ensure that lessons learned are captured and transferred to the legacy of the Games.

Key Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will bring experience of working within event management operations, ideally in an event, programme, or venue environment. You will be confident coordinating documentation, trackers and action logs, and skilled at keeping multiple stakeholders informed and aligned.

With strong organisational ability, a methodical approach, and exceptional attention to detail this will allow you to manage competing priorities effectively and deliver work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Clear and confident communication skills are essential, as you will be expected to engage with a wide range of audiences across internal teams and external partners. A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, will also be required.

It would be advantageous to have direct experience in a safety or security role within events, sport, or major projects, along with familiarity of event control room operations or Games-time working environments.

An understanding of UK health and security legislation and principles of safe working practice would be highly desirable, as would prior involvement in training, readiness activities, or emergency planning and response structures.

Above all, you will be proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused, with the resilience to thrive under pressure and the passion to help deliver a safe and secure Games.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of major sporting events, bringing the world together for 11 days of unforgettable competition and culture.

We’re looking for well-organised, passionate, and driven people who are excited to roll up their sleeves and be part of an inclusive, forward-thinking, and sustainable Games. This is your chance to help set the new standard for global events while contributing to the city’s rich sporting legacy.
