The role
Full Time Support Worker – Harborne, Birmingham Hours: Shifts - AM 07:30 – 14:30 | PM 14:30 – 21:30 – 35 hours a weekLocation: Harborne, Birmingham Start Date: ASAPYour newpany
Ongoing full time support workers are needed across the Birmingham Area to work in and across adult care settings, providing ongoing support to the residents at the homes. The working hours are flexible to work around you for either mornings or afternoons across the week subject to availability. This is a full time role of 30 – 35 hours per week.
Your new role
Your main role as a support worker will be ensuring the safety andfort of service users. You will predominantly be working with elderly service users with various needs as a residential care home, so as well as carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage service users to have confidence and independence and encourage engagement in activities. The role will include personal care, and hygiene upkeep dependant on each service users’ needs. You will be working with people from a variety of backgrounds, with varying levels of needs. With this, behaviour can be challenging, and you will need to be adaptable. Despite the challenges, this will be a rewarding role.

What you'll need to succeedAt least 6 months experience in the last 2 years in similar settings or role as a support or care workerExperience and willingness to get involved and be a proactive member of the team, taking part in activities, using own initiative etcExperience of dealing with challenging behaviour, Personal Care, Manual Handling – experience with various stages of Dementia & Alzheimer’s would be an advantageA nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to supporting service usersExcellentmunication both with service users and staffHave in-date and in-person manual handling training and be able to provide the certificateStrong level of spoken and written EnglishHold a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or above or equivalentHave a Childrens and Adults or Adult only DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
