Offer description

We are looking to recruit an EIP Community Mental Health Social worker who is motivated and enthusiastic and has proven ability to work positively with service users, carers and family. Redbridge EIP is a multi‑disciplinary service that provides specialist interventions within an integrated, person‑centred approach to people aged 14‑65 resident in the Borough of Redbridge experiencing a first episode of psychosis.


Service Overview

Redbridge EIP delivers the NICE guideline for interventions that require collaborative working through our multi disciplinary team. An experienced qualified professional who is committed to developing and promoting evidence‑based best practice will be part of this specialist community mental health team.


Key Responsibilities

* Work collaboratively and effectively as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Be responsible and accountable with the multi‑disciplinary team for the provision of high quality clinical care and interventions to service users, carers and family.
* Ensure clinical treatment and interventions are needs‑led and implemented in compliance with NICE Standard 80, being proactive, innovative and creative in delivering care to enable recovery, empowerment and well‑being.
* Ensure effective risk management by accident/incident reporting.
* Maintain accurate recording of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
* Undertake comprehensive clinical assessment of psychosis for service users referred to EIP and formulate appropriate risk management plans.
* Undertake mental state assessments, identifying risk factors to support recovery and actively prevent relapse.
* In consultation with MDT, formulate and implement relapse prevention plan, crisis management and positive risk taking.
* Formulate individual care plans in partnership with service user, carer and family, ensuring they are evidence‑based, compliant with NICE guidance, regularly reviewed and evaluated in accordance with CPA and the service user’s recovery plan.
* Facilitate the delivery of care in a sensitive and professional manner respecting customs, individuality, values and spiritual beliefs of service users and their carers.
* Coordinate effective discharge planning for the service user in consultation with clinical lead and MDT.
* Collaborate closely with in‑patient, HTT, CAMHS and perinatal services, and with other agencies including primary care, voluntary and statutory organisations as required.
* Attend and participate effectively in adult and child protection meetings, MDT case conferences, reviews and professional meetings, providing written and verbal reports as appropriate.
* As a social worker in the team, comply with the Care Act, performing both care‑act assessments and carers assessments under the Care Act.
* Support safeguarding of both adults and children within the team.
* Promote and apply equal opportunities and anti‑discriminatory interventions that respect the service user’s customs, values and spiritual beliefs.
* Proactively contribute, co‑facilitate and participate in the development and delivery of EIP group and community programmes.
* Undertake clinical professional supervision.
* Undertake Rio Live/managerial supervision.
* Report all incidents or accidents following agreed local procedures, notifying the clinical lead and/or service manager.
* Deputise for the clinical lead as requested, providing cover for other team members when required.
* Possess a sound operational knowledge of the Mental Health Act, its application and comply with requirements in the delivery of care and administration of treatment.
* Provide support to the service user and carer during formal Mental Health Act assessments.
* Be conversant with the Mental Capacity Act and comply with its requirements when delivering care, providing support to the service user and carer as appropriate.
* Ensure adherence to the Trust Policies, Professional Code of Conduct, Social Services and local policies and procedures including Section 117.


Care Coordination and Assessments

Act as care coordinator to clients referred to the service, undertaking a comprehensive assessment of health and social needs together with the service user and implementing a plan of care and intervention to meet these needs, ensuring regular reviews to evaluate the care plan.


Safeguarding and Compliance

Plan and implement the Trust and Local Authority requirements in relation to safeguarding children and guidance legislation within the Care Act 2014. Adhere to the safeguarding adults policy and complete all necessary safeguarding procedures consistently.


Training, Induction & Probation

All new starters join on the first Monday of each month and receive a comprehensive induction lasting up to two weeks. Induction includes mandatory training, systems training, allocation of equipment and opportunities to meet senior staff and attend drop‑in sessions focused on engagement, health, wellbeing and key processes. Probationary period applies unless the applicant is an internal staff member currently in probation or a bank member.


High‑Cost Area Supplement

The post attracts a High‑Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,714 and maximum £5,941) prorated for part‑time staff.


Certificates of Sponsorship

Although the Trust is a registered sponsor organisation, sponsorship is not offered for all roles. Check eligibility under the UKVI points‑based system.
