Siemens Rail Industry Hub - Purchasing Operative (Indirect Materials)
Siemens is establishing its first UK-based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire. Initially, the facility will assemble nearly 50 trains for the Piccadilly line on the London Underground, with plans to expand to hundreds of trains and include maintenance and overhaul activities, demonstrating long-term growth and employment opportunities in the area.
We are seeking a Purchasing Operative focused on indirect materials to join our Logistics team in Goole. Your role will be to ensure the cost-effective and timely supply of indirect materials to meet factory needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Processing purchase requests and ensuring the on-time delivery of direct and indirect materials.
2. Engaging with internal and external stakeholders in the supply chain to improve material flow, communicate requirements, and address concerns.
3. Analyzing data, including sales and consumption data from vendor-managed inventory solutions, and relaying information to stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
* Knowledge of the material purchasing process, including RFQs, supplier negotiations, purchase orders, and invoice management.
* Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in Excel and MRP systems like SAP.
* Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
* Negotiation skills with a focus on cost savings.
* Proactive and self-motivated attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in purchasing within the Rail industry.
* Experience with Vendor Managed Inventory and manufacturing environments.
* Knowledge of supplier performance monitoring and KPI management.
* International supply chain experience.
* CIPS qualification or working towards it.
