About the Role
Are you a skilled Commissioning Engineer with nuclear sector experience? We are working with a leading engineering organisation delivering major nuclear projects in the UK, and they are looking for a competent engineer to join their commissioning team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a hands‑on role in testing, verifying, and ensuring systems are operationally ready, while gaining valuable cross‑disciplinary experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
* Develop, review, and implement commissioning procedures, test plans, and documentation.
* Ensure systems and equipment meet design intent and performance requirements.
* Monitor and report on commissioning progress, quality, and safety.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, instrumentation) to resolve site issues.
* Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance procedures.
* Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to coordinate commissioning activities.
* Support troubleshooting and problem‑solving during commissioning and handover.
* Maintain accurate commissioning records and as‑built documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
* Degree or HND in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant discipline).
* Minimum 3 years' experience working on nuclear projects or similarly complex, safety‑critical infrastructure.
* Proven experience commissioning mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems.
* Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and systems.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
* Commitment to health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Desirable
* Experience in commissioning nuclear new‑build projects or heavy industrial infrastructure.
* Knowledge of testing, verification, and validation procedures for complex systems.
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working toward chartership.
* Familiarity with commissioning software, tools, or methodologies used in nuclear projects.
