We’re recruiting a Purchasing Manager to join a global manufacturer specialising in network infrastructure and fibre connectivity, supporting telecoms, electronics and industrial markets.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring cost‑effective sourcing, supplier performance and material availability across a dynamic manufacturing operation.
You’ll play a central part in:
* Maintaining efficient, cost‑competitive supply chains
* Supporting production through strong materials planning and availability
* Driving improvements in stock control, supplier performance and cost efficiency
Key Responsibilities
* Source and manage suppliers across UK, Europe and global markets
* Negotiate pricing, contracts and long‑term supplier agreements
* Monitor and improve supplier performance (cost, quality, OTIF)
* Drive cost reduction and inventory optimisation initiatives
* Support budgeting and purchasing strategy
* Analyse spend, materials usage and make‑vs‑buy decisions
* Ensure compliance with procurement, quality and operational standards
* Lead and develop a small purchasing/logistics team (2 members)
About You
* Proven experience in Purchasing / Procurement / Supply Chain
* Background in manufacturing, engineering, telecoms or technology environments
* Experience with Sage is Essential
* Strong commercial awareness and negotiation ability
* Ability to balance strategic thinking with day‑to‑day operational delivery
* Confident managing suppliers across international markets
* A basic salary of up to £55,000
* 28 days holiday
* 08:00 to 16:45 Monday to Tuesday, Friday 8am - 12.30pm
* Based onsite, Northampton
