Are you an experienced Operations Manager or Workshop Manager with a background in the automotive industry? We are looking for a dynamic leader to oversee our workshop operations at Gatwick Airport. This is a pivotal role where you’ll apply your expertise in operations, workshop management, planning, strategic thinking and leadership to ensure seamless maintenance and service delivery, directly contributing to the efficiency of airport operations.

Key Responsibilities

Workshop & Operational Management
Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient management of supervisors, technicians, stores, and admin staff.
Ensure vehicles and GSE are maintained to schedule and industry standards, implement quality control measures.
Drive operational resilience by optimizing workflows, resources, and maintenance strategies to minimise downtime.

Leadership & Performance Management
Lead, develop, and motivate the workshop team, ensuring high performance in a fast-paced airport environment.
Monitor service effectiveness, implement process improvements, and drive continuous development.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

Compliance & Safety
Ensure adherence to airport regulations, industry best practices, and safety standards, prioritising aviation safety.

Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement
Collaborate with airlines, ground handlers, and internal teams to maintain seamless airport operations.
Manage supplier relationships, oversee contract performance, and support procurement processes.
Oversee workshop office operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and communication.

Financial & Resource Management
Manage workshop budgets, track expenditures, and investigate discrepancies.
Ensure optimal stock levels in parts and stores, maintaining efficiency for planned and unplanned maintenance.

Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in operations or workshop management within aviation, construction or automotive related industrial setting.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, capable of thriving in a high-pressure environment.
Excellent leadership abilities with a track record of team development and motivation.
Strong communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and business partners.
Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent qualification in vehicle maintenance/repair.

Desirable: Training in GSE/ plant/heavy goods vehicles, experience with diesel & electric vehicles, hydraulics, and welding.

Requirements
Full UK driving licence
Checkable references covering the last 5 years (employment and/or education).
Successful completion of a basic criminal record check (UK and overseas, if applicable).
