Job Description:
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to over 1.15 million people, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.
The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) offers a fully redesigned Geriatric Medicine Service in a modern facility. This is a fixed-term replacement post, including duties at a new hospital and some rehabilitation ward cover at Gartnavel General Hospital. The role involves acute receiving duties for older people on a 1:8 rotational basis at QEUH, with onsite post-receiving ward from 8am to 8pm, and out-of-hours on-call from home. Responsibilities include acute assessment, short-stay and rehabilitation wards, and weekly geriatric clinics.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practice, and be eligible for GMC Specialist Register inclusion in geriatric or general medicine. UK-trained applicants should have CCT or CESR. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. Candidates should be capable of working independently and leading multidisciplinary team meetings. Experience in complex discharge planning is desirable. Clinical supervision for resident doctors will be provided.
