Clinical Psychologist in Learning Disabilities
Join the role of Clinical Psychologist in Learning Disabilities at Cheswold Park Hospital. This position offers an opportunity to support adults with learning disabilities (LD) and improve their quality of life in a multidisciplinary environment.
Job Summary
Full-time (37.5 h) or part-time (30 h) posts with flexible scheduling. The role involves direct assessment, formulation and intervention work, audit, service evaluation and clinical governance. The MDT includes Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, OT, Physiotherapy, SALT, Dietetics and support staff. The Trust encourages vaccination against COVID-19.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist psychological assessment and intervention for adults with LD across settings.
* Conduct diagnostic assessments, formulate and deliver tailored treatment plans.
* Provide advice and consultation to non-psychologist colleagues and carers.
* Supervise and support Psychology Assistants, Trainees and Band 7 HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologists.
* Use research to contribute to audit, service development and policy.
* Engage with families/carers and provider services where appropriate.
* Maintain safeguarding and clinical governance standards.
* Develop and deliver training and supervision within the team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
* Significant post-qualification clinical experience relevant to the post.
* Current HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
* Completion of formal training to become a supervisor of Doctoral Clinical Psychologists.
* Evidence of specialist psychometric assessment skills and experience of training postgraduate trainees.
* Exceptional communication skills – verbal, non‑verbal and written.
* Evidence of therapeutic alliance ability and complex case formulation.
* Capacity to travel within the Trust and manual dexterity for test administration.
* Freedom to work and supply psychometric testing equipment (including a valid driving licence if required).
* Experience with teaching, training or supervision and working with diverse cultural contexts (desirable).
* Experience of working with group or crisis situations and inpatient settings (desirable).
