Overview
Following our client’s successful launch of their Newbury (Reading) unit earlier this year they are expanding their commercial team there. The Newbury team has flourished, having secured further long term cyclical contracts beyond its budget, creating a stable order book for its future. They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can share in this growth ethos. Honesty, integrity and teamwork will be at the heart of what they do.
They are an established property services company with over 75 years in operation, across England and Wales, in over 18 locations and 32 Business Units. The role focuses on Painting and Decorating and associated planned refurbishment works for public, private, residential and educational sectors, with transferable experience in brickwork, plastering or roofing being relevant for surveying, tendering and refurbishments.
The main customer base will be Social Housing and Council/ Local authority bodies, Housing Associations, so highlight any relevant sector experience on your CV and in your summary, as this is key.

Role and Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor in Newbury, you will actively tender, estimate and measure onsite. The work includes established frameworks and core contracts with prestigious clients within public, residential, retirement living, commercial and education sectors.
* Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks
* Prepare cost value reconciliations, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset
* Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity and labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible
* Build strong client and supplier relations to discuss variations and contract progress and seek mutual solutions
* Complete and analyse weekly site reporting with adequate cost information (labour rates, budgets, value, progress, quality, safety)

* Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role, with experience in the commercial management of projects from tender through final account
* Experience managing contract values up to £3 million annually
