Head of Sales (Digital Agency)
Location: Fully Remote (with access to London office). Type: Full‑time. Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 (DOE) + Benefits & Commission.
About the Role
We’re looking for a commercially driven Head of Sales to lead and scale our agency’s revenue function. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who combines strategic oversight with strong execution—particularly someone who has come up through an SDR (Sales Development Representative) background and understands how to build pipeline & close deals. You’ll own the full sales cycle, from outbound strategy and pipeline generation through to closing high‑value deals and nurturing long‑term client relationships. A critical component of this role is deep, hands‑on experience with Optimizely—using it not just as a selling point, but as a core part of shaping client solutions, leading conversations, and driving revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Strategy
* Define and execute the overall sales strategy to drive consistent revenue growth
* Build, mentor, and scale a high‑performing sales team (SDRs and Account Executives)
* Establish clear KPIs, forecasts, and reporting frameworks
Pipeline Generation & SDR Excellence
* Design and optimise outbound sales processes rooted in strong SDR fundamentals
* Implement scalable prospecting strategies across multiple channels
* Ensure consistent, high‑quality pipeline generation aligned with growth targets
Client Acquisition & Closing
* Own and lead complex sales cycles from discovery to close
* Deliver compelling, consultative pitches with a strong emphasis on Optimizely‑led solutions
* Negotiate and close high‑value digital, experimentation, and personalisation engagements
Client Relationship Management
* Act as a senior client‑facing leader, building trust with key accounts
* Lead strategic conversations around digital experience optimisation and experimentation
* Identify opportunities for upsell and long‑term partnerships
Platform & Expertise (Optimizely – Core Focus)
* Act as a subject matter expert in Optimizely across experimentation, personalisation, and DXP capabilities
* Lead client discussions, demos, and solution design centred on Optimizely
* Work closely with technical and delivery teams to translate Optimizely capabilities into commercial value
* Position the agency as a leading Optimizely partner in the market
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven track record in a senior sales role within a digital agency or similar environment
* Strong background in SDR / outbound‑led sales, with hands‑on experience building pipeline
* Demonstrated success in closing complex, high‑value deals
* Extensive, hands‑on experience with Optimizely is essential
* Experience selling or delivering Optimizely‑based solutions
* Ability to confidently lead client conversations and proposals centred on Optimizely
* Exceptional client‑facing and communication skills
* Commercially astute with strong negotiation capabilities
Nice to Have
* Experience working with or selling AI‑driven solutions, personalisation platforms, or data‑led digital products
* Familiarity with how AI can enhance sales processes (e.g., prospecting, outreach personalisation, forecasting)
* Exposure to emerging trends in AI within digital experience, CRO, or marketing technology
* Experience managing and scaling sales teams
