Healthcare Assistant (Bank)
Ridgeway Hospital – Swindon – Bank Shifts – Salary: £12.71 per hour.
The Ridgeway Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare. We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our nursing department on a bank basis, working "as and when required" to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and cover for staff on annual leave or absence.
Duties of this role include
* Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
* Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, documenting intake where appropriate.
* Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
* Carry out and accurately record routine observations (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood glucose) after appropriate training.
* Support basic clinical procedures (wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention, mobility aids).
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas (trolleys, beds, equipment).
* Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Applicants should meet the following criteria
* Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
* Ability to follow instructions and escalates concerns appropriately.
* Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
* Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
