Senior Project Manager – Framatome UK

Reporting to the Head of Project Management, the Senior Project Manager will ensure that assigned programmes or projects are planned and delivered in line with agreed contractual obligations and expectations, creating positive and collaborative client relationships. The SPM leads the delivery of complex, high‑value programmes or projects, ensuring compliance with strict safety, regulatory and quality standards. The SPM is accountable for the planning, execution and completion of projects within scope, time and budget and acts as the key interface between customers, internal stakeholders and contractors.


Responsibilities

* Ensure projects are executed and controlled to meet customer requirements and minimise business risks.
* Ensure full compliance with nuclear safety, quality and environmental standards.
* Execute project management processes on assigned projects.
* Develop, maintain and manage project plans, schedules, risk registers and budgets.
* Lead hazard identification and risk assessments relevant to project activities.
* Manage contracts and procurement processes to deliver project objectives.
* Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders including third‑party vendors.
* Manage and coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams including engineering, QSHE, commercial, project controls and operations.
* Monitor project performance, conduct regular reporting and implement corrective actions where necessary.
* Provide input regarding project resource needs based on future workload assessment.
* Conduct lessons learned and continuous improvement processes.
* Champion project governance, quality assurance and change control processes.
* Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement and innovation.
* Coach and mentor junior team members.


Key Outputs

* Successfully delivered projects within agreed timeframes, cost, scope and quality metrics.
* Delivery against customer requirements with high safety and quality performance, strong OTIF delivery and minimal risk.
* Project documentation including plans, schedules, risk registers etc.
* Accurate and timely reporting to the leadership team and other key stakeholders.
* Strong leadership and development of the integrated project delivery team.
* Effective stakeholder and interface management across multiple functions and organisations.
* Strong customer and stakeholder relationships with trust between parties.
* Lessons learned captured, communicated and applied to future delivery.


Profile

* Degree in Project Management, Engineering or related discipline.
* APM PPQ or equivalent, working towards Chartership.
* Member of a recognised project professional body (APM, PMI).
* IOSH or NEBOSH Managing Safely (highly desirable).In‑depth knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 19443) and working knowledge of IMS systems.
* Knowledge of the key attributes of nuclear safety culture.Within 3 years, achieve Chartered project professional status, recognised leadership qualification and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).


Experience, Skills and Knowledge

* Extensive experience managing large, highly regulated projects, especially £5 M+ projects in regulated environments.
* Proven experience in highly regulated industries.
* Strong ability to manage project controls artefacts such as schedules and cost models, with expertise in Primavera and MS Project.
* Application of QSHE standards such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 19443.
* Familiarity with quality and continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean etc.
* Strong understanding and experience in managing and mitigating project and programme risks.
* Ability to apply safety practices in the management of complex high‑risk projects.
* Skilled in managing budgets to ensure financial health and control costs.
* Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills.
* Ability to navigate complex political and technical environments.
* Experience working in EDF, including active EDF UK plants (SZB, Heysham, Torness).
