An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen within our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and we are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated neonatal nurses to further their career in a Band 6 nursing post. This role is demanding at times however, it is so rewarding and worthwhile.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is one of the Level 3 Centre’s within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Neonatal Network and part of the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.
You will be highly motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and have the ability to work independently as a lone worker and within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
Main duties of the job
To support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse or Matron in ensuring the provision of excellent care
with compassion for the patients, relatives and visitors who are cared for within or by the ward,
department, service or team.
Be responsible for ensuring the planning, delivery and evaluation of care to meet the personalised
health and wellbeing care needs of patients, in line with the Trust’s Values & Nursing & Midwifery
Professional Framework
Provide strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care
and professional practice to support day to day efficient running of the clinical area, service.
Act as a strong role model and provide development, clinical supervision and advice for other staff
and students to support them in reaching their full potential. Actively engage in research and
development opportunities for the service.
To ensure the productive operation of the ward environment through the maintenance of a safe,
clean and organised environment.
To act at all times in a manner that upholds the Trust’s values and & Nursing & Midwifery

Governance

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
1. Appropriate NMC Registration
2. Diploma or Degree in Nursing
3. NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
4. Evidence of continuing professional education or development in area of speciality
Desirable criteria
5. Degree
6. Post registration qualification in area of speciality area
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
7. Evidence of leadership experience and learning.
8. Awareness of recent advances within Nursing practice
9. Knowledge of Clinical Governance and safeguarding and the relevance to practice
10. Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
11. Experience of implementing changes to benefit patients and improve nursing practice
12. Knowledge of Ethical issues
