What you will be doing:
* You will prepare examination evidence matter statements that present the council’s position and approach to policies and allocations in the Submission Local Plan.
* It will be key for you to prepare main modifications and statements of common ground, liaising with adjoining authorities and government agencies to agree matters.
* You will review representations and examination evidence submitted by participants and formulate officer responses.
* You will participate as an expert witness at the Local Plan examination in public hearings.
* You will lead the commissioning and project management of external consultants and partners, producing technical evidence and supporting studies. You will also present at internal and external meetings, including senior officer and council meetings.
What we need from you:
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as town planning.
* Significant relevant experience in planning practice, especially related to housing policy, site allocations, and strategic sites.
* Experience in preparing for and giving evidence at Local Plan or Development Plan Document examinations.
* Eligibility or ability to work towards membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
* Understanding of planning policy and legislation relevant to local plan making.
Hybrid working with at least one day per week in the office at Badminton Road, Yate.
If driving is required, pool cars are available, and a valid driving license is necessary.
