Main duties of the job
We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our clinical team. You’ll play a key role in delivering:
* Undertake cervical cytology
* Childhood and adult immunisations
* Wound care and dressings
* Travel health and vaccinations
* Support health promotion and disease prevention initiatives
* Work collaboratively with GPs and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care
* Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with NMC standards

Job Summary
The Practice Nurse will provide high quality nursing care to patients within the GP practice, working as part of the multidisciplinary primary care team. The postholder will be responsible for managing chronic disease clinics, health promotion, immunisations, and treatment room activities, ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively, and in line with clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
* Blood pressure monitoring
* Venepuncture
* Injections and immunisations, including childhood, travel, flu, and COVID if applicable
* Wound care and dressings
* ECGs
* Cervical cytology
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records using SystmOne
* Recognise and appropriately respond to clinical risk, escalating concerns when necessary
Infection Prevention and Control
* Maintain and promote high standards of infection control
* Ensure correct use, storage, and disposal of clinical equipment and waste
* Participate in infection control audits as required
Safeguarding and Governance
* Adhere to safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults
* Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement, and practice meetings
* Work within NMC standards, practice policies, and local/national guidelines
Stock and Equipment
* Monitor and maintain clinical stock levels
* Check and maintain vaccines, emergency drugs, and resuscitation equipment
Team Working
* Work collaboratively with GPs, HCAs, reception, and the wider PCN team
* Support and mentor less experienced staff where appropriate
* Participate in training, appraisal, and continued professional development
Person Specification
* Registered Nurse Adult with a valid NMC registration
* Experience working in primary care or general practice, or relevant transferable experience
* Competent in treatment room nursing duties
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* IT skills and ability to use clinical systems
* Cervical cytology training
* Immunisation and travel health training
* Experience using SystmOne
