Interviews are taking place on 12/06/2025

At Turning Point, we support people across England with substance use problems. As an Outreach Recovery Worker, you'll make a real difference to their lives as you provide support and advice to help each and every one of our service users achieve their potential. Passionate about people, you'll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life too, as you make this role your own as part of a hard-working and friendly team.

Running health facilities and services on a not-for-profit basis, we invest every penny back into our care - and our people. So, if you're ambitious and focused on helping people with substance misuse recover and make real sustained changes, we would like to hear from you.

As an Outreach Recovery Worker we offer a Starting salary of £24,150 with annual pay progression up to £28,252 (You may be offered a higher starting salary dependent on experience)

You will have opportunities to progress your career with a structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways that will enable you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.

Whether you are looking to progress into a management and leadership role or to be a specialist in your field as an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner at Turning point we will support and encourage you on your career journey.

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity to join the Wakefield Inspiring Recovery Team. This team is focused on delivering a high standard of outreach support. We would like to recruit someone who is committed and dedicated to working with people who are affected by substance use. This post is based across Wakefield, therefore mobility is essential to the post holder; you will be required to work across locality hubs and community sites.

The Ideal Candidate

You'll need a good working knowledge of issues related to substance use, as well as a genuine passion for the field. Although previous relevant experience, on either a voluntary basis or as a paid employee is preferable, most important is that you're flexible, patient and able to view situations from a service user's perspective. As you'd expect, good moral values will be key. Situations can sometimes be difficult and challenging, so you'll need to be non-judgemental, with a sensitive approach and a good understanding of how to meet complex needs related to substance misuse.

Previous experience of facilitating group-based interventions as well as working with clients on a one to one basis would be an advantage.

At a practical level you will need good IT skills and excellent communication skills. It would be preferable if the post holder has had previous experience in delivering outreach support.

About Us

As a leading health and social care provider with more than 300 locations across England, we take real pride in the services we offer.

We run all of our services on a not-for-profit basis; instead, we invest every penny back into our services and people. We never stop believing in change for the better, and we work constantly to improve the lives of the people we support.
