An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HealthcCare Assistant to join Ward 8 - Diabetes and Endocrine, at Fairfield General Hospital This ward is a fast paced environment and you will gain exposure to a variety of patients and skills in specialties such as Diabetes and Endocrinology. The unit has 21 beds. The ward has a dedicated nursing team who manage the patients along with our own MDT - pharmacy team, therapy team, admin team and medical team and consultants. We focus on delivering a high standard of care to all our patients, and you will be an active team member in ensuring this. We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic individuals to help support our patients with all aspects of daily living and to encourage independence where possible. We would expect you to have good time keeping skills, be able to work well in a team but also be able to use your own initiative, with patient care being at the centre of all work carried out. This role requires you to work over a 24 hour basis, working days, nights, weekend and bank holidays. Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
* As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will carry out personal care duties for patients, in support of the registered nurse and other relevant professional practitioners, where appropriate.
* To carry out a range of personal care clinical duties, including bathing, oral hygiene, assist in maintaining patients nutrition/fluid balance status to ensure delivery of high quality patient care at all times.
* Ensure effective delivery of personal care is provided to patients and that an acceptable standard is maintained.
* To plan day to day workloads, under the direction of the registered nurse and according to patient and ward need.
* To undertake escort duties as required.
* To co-operate with and maintain good working relationships with both the multi-disciplinary team and other healthcare professionals.
* You must have an empathetic approach to patients, carers and relatives, answering any queries, suggestions or concerns they may have where possible, referring them to the registered nurse where appropriate.
* The post holder will ensure patients property and valuables that are received by the ward for safe keeping are secured and processed as per policy.
* Participate in personal and practice development activities to maintain standards of care.
* Demonstrate care and compassion to patients, carers and relatives to help ensure high quality person centred patient care is delivered at all times.
* Report, observe changes in the patients physical and psychological needs.
