An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Professional Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to join the Mental Health Central Access Point (MHCAP).

Mental Health Central Access Point (MHCAP) is a 24 hour telephone service based at Anstey Frith House, County Hall in Glenfield, Leicester. This is a platform for callers who have used the NHS 111 option and selected option 2 for Mental Health Support. The key skills for this role include excellent ongoing assessment, problem solving and risk assessment, with the ability to work autonomously and within a team. We are looking for people who are empathetic, patient, understanding and have excellent listening skills.

You will receive support for your emotional wellbeing and ongoing continuing professional development. Regular one-to-ones provide a space to be transparent, open and honest about matters affecting you and your work.

As part of the team, you will work collaboratively with Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, OTs and others. The collective support and knowledge base enable you to perform at your best. Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities)

The role of a Band 6 Mental Health Central Access Point is to coordinate and provide specialist telephone assessments, interventions and expertise to service users in crisis 24/7, 52 weeks per year, over the phone in the community team. The successful candidate will collect, collate and accurately report patient information, maintaining complete nursing records in line with NMC/HCPC and Trust standards, involving clients/service users and carers/relatives in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care.

The role includes coordinating shift working in partnership with Turning Point recovery workers, providing support and expertise, and working as a multi-disciplinary team member with other professionals/agencies to ensure needs are met in a safe and effective manner. The role is dynamic and requires specialist risk assessment; the MHCAP team provides extensive experience across the acute sector. You will have opportunities to develop skills while working with the urgent care pathway, primary care and secondary care. There are opportunities to mentor students (Band 3 supervision) and participate in leadership training to support your development.
