The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our client’s dynamic Data Team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining data solutions that support internal reporting and customer-facing applications. Using cutting-edge technologies, you will develop scalable data pipelines that integrate diverse data sources and ensure data quality within a new Data Platform supporting real-time application integration and reporting.
You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to deliver clean, secure, and performant datasets that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Own and deliver assigned projects and ongoing tasks with accountability
* Maintain and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics
* Transform raw data from multiple CRM systems into harmonized, curated datasets
* Develop event-driven processes for use by various system subscribers
* Investigate and document architectural solutions to promote best practices within the Data Team
* Build data science tools to enhance insights into customer data
* Keep project documentation up-to-date using Azure DevOps
* Maintain and improve operational runbooks for data engineering tasks
* Develop instrumentation and monitoring for automated IT processes
* Take a leadership role within the engineering function of the team
Skills & Experience:
* Proficient with cloud-based data engineering tools such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, AWS S3, and Lambda
* Experienced in PySpark for ELT processes
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
* Proven track record in designing and evaluating engineering solutions
* Formal qualification in data engineering or related discipline
* Experience leading or contributing to data engineering teams and technical projects
* Familiarity with Azure cloud stack and proactive analytics functions
* Experience in the Utilities sector is a strong advantage
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computing, Software Development, or related field
* Full UK driving license
