Offer description

Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences Norwich Medical School Lecturer in Medical Education (Consultation Skills) Ref: ATS1343 Salary on appointment will be £48,822 per annum, with an annual increment up to £56,535 per annum. The Consultation Skills team is an established team at Norwich Medical School and has developed a National and International reputation for consultation skills excellence. Norwich Medical School graduates are recognised for their excellent, patient-centred consultation skills and preparedness for practice, reflecting the high-quality training they receive. Our team supports NSS themes of ‘Teaching on my Course’ and ‘Learning Opportunities’ which remain above benchmark for NSS. However, we also utilise large numbers of Associate Tutors, due to the small group teaching, role play as well as specialist nature of the training. You will be involved in the leadership, coordination, management and substantial delivery of clinical communication skills teaching for undergraduate medicine. You will lead Year 3 and 4 MB BS clinical communication modules, including behaviour change, shared decision-making and mental health consultations, and will also have opportunities to contribute to our new Graduate Entry Medicine programme. The role will also involve carrying out teaching related duties and formal administrative work within the School, including assessments, supervision of student research projects, and acting as a Personal Adviser. A first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area (e.g. psychology or other social science) with experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and student assessment, including coursework and examinations, is essential. You will also need a postgraduate qualification or certificate (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. health profession, education). Undergraduate or postgraduate student research supervision experience and experience in relevant enterprise and engagement activities would be advantageous. This full-time post is available immediately on an indefinite basis. Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days can be found on our benefits page. Closing date: 25 March 2026 The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
